Srinagar, Nov 19: The Congress on Friday said that revoking three farming laws was a historic victory for the farmers and the Congress.

Presiding over a meeting of the party at Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) headquarters in Srinagar after paying floral tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 104th birth anniversary, JKPCC President G A Mir termed the Centre’s decision to revoke three black farming laws as a historic victory of the unity of farmers and Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

Mir said Rahul Gandhi remained steadfast to support farmers in their fight against these black laws, which the Centre brought to benefit the corporates.

“The decision of the Centre is based on the fact that BJP is sensing the worst defeat in the upcoming elections in five states as the public opinion is against BJP for punishing people under the garb of development, which is nowhere to be seen,” Mir said
