Scores of people were injured after forces allegedly resorted to indiscriminate tear smoke shelling to foil a pro-freedom rally in Rathsun village of central Kashmir's Budgam district on Sunday.

Witnesses said that the rally was underway at Markazi Jamia Masjid Rathsun grounds with around 12000 people in attendance when the forces allegedly attacked it.

"Scores of people were injured after resorted to tear smoke shelling on the peaceful Ittehad e Millat rally," said a participant. "The shelling continued for around twenty minutes."

He said that forces personnel torched dozen-odd motorcycles besides the tents erected to accommodate the participants.
