Reacting to reports of additional deployment of troops in Kashmir and probable abrogation of Article 35 A, President Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement, Shah Faesal, Saturday said that the central government should steer safe from "any thoughtless adventurism over the special status" of the state.
In a statement, Faesal said that in view of thesensitivities attached to Articles 370 and 35 A, any attempt at tinkering withthe provisions will have serious consequences in the state. "It will breed anew phase of alienation in Kashmir. History is witness that erosion of specialstatus over the years has not led to integration, but alienation," he said.
He urged the central government to come clear on the rumoursabout the alleged threat to Article 35 A after August 15, as it was inducingpanic in Kashmir.
