Searches conducted in Tral village

Government forces on Thursday launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) at Batagund village of Tral township in Pulwama district.

A police official while confirming the CASO in the area, said that on “specific inputs” the search was launched in the village.

   

On Thursday afternoon, forces personnel comprising Jammu & Kashmir police, army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off Batagund village, he said.

As per locals, the searches were carried out many times in the village. The operation was on for the entire day.

They said the forces had sealed all the entry and exit points. “People from many adjoining villages could not move out due to heavy deployment of forces in the area,” they said.

A senior police official said it was a “normal practice” by the forces that “concluded peacefully, he said.
