Amid biting cold and thigh-high snow, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in south Kashmir’s Shopian town on early Thursday morning.
A police official said that the forces laid a siege around Gadda Mohalla and Pir Mohalla localities in the heart of town and started a door to door search operation.
“The operation was launched after the forces received inputs about the presence of militants in the area”, said an official.
The operation, which continued for several hours ended peacefully as no militant was found in the area. The operation was launched at a time when most of the roads in the town are clogged up with snow.
