Tehreek- e- Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Muhammad Ashraf Sehraie today welcomed the report on human rights situation in Kashmir by All Party Parliamentary Kashmir Group (APPKG), United Kingdom (UK).
"In its report, APPKG) has accused New Delhi of mass murder of Kashmiris and criticized it for its refusal to allow independent observers to monitor the unprecedented and gross human rights violations in Kashmir. Although much delayed, it (report) has recognized and accepted the grave human rights tragedies by the state and this report is seen as a second big jolt to New Delhi after United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) report on unprecedented human rights violations in Kashmir," Serai said in a statement.
"The detailed report by (APPKG) reflects the grim situation of Kashmir how. It throws a detailed light on the brutalities being unleashed by the forces against Kashmiris on daily basis for the last 70 years," Sehrai said.
"We appeal to international community, the UN, UNSC, European Parliament, UNHCHR and other human rights organizations to do more than occasional verbal condemnation and go beyond such human rights violation report submissions in order to restore their own reduced credibility as human rights defenders which is at stake since decades now as they prefer trade ,strategic and economical interest over human tragedies and fundamental basic rights which have been promised decades back," Sehrai said.
Meanwhile, Sehrai expressed concern over the Kashmiri student Ahteshaam who has reportedly gone missing, in Delhi, saying "Students outside Jammu and Kashmir are not safe."
Sehrai also paid rich tributes to two militants who were slain today in a gunfight with the state forces at Arizal, in central Kashmir's Budgam district. "The sacrifices can't be forgotten and the mission of the youth would be taken to its logical end", he said, adding that "Kashmir issue has entered its crucial stage and it is need of the hour to show unity and steadfastness at this point in time."
Meanwhile, the TeH spokesman strongly denounced Sehraie's house confinement, saying that "It reflects complete highhandedness of the authorities."
