Separatists condemn Shopian student’s killing

Various pro-resistance groups on Thursday condemned the killing of a teenage student Umar Kumar by the government forces on Wednesday near encounter site at  Turkiwangam in Shopian district. They prayed for the slain student and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

The Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir spokesman Advocate Zahid Ali, in a statement said the government forces were targeting the youth throughout the Valley under a plan and the latest victim being the 14-year old student Umar Kumar of Pinjura, Shopian, “who was shot dead in cold blood while in uniform carrying his school bag.”

   

Zahid said, “Another youth is struggling for his life in Soura institute, besides scores others who got injured critically while a mob of peaceful protesters was indiscriminately fired upon by the government forces.” 

“Jama’at fervently appeals all justice loving people to condemn the state sponsored atrocities and intimidating policy against the real natives of Kashmir,” Zahid said.

He said the Jama’at extended its total solidarity with the bereaved families and “appeals once again the international community to support the true and just cause and genuine demand of the people of Kashmir and help them secure their birth right to self determination.”

Muslim League (ML) Jammu and Kashmir, headed by incarcerated senior pro-resistance leader Masarat Aalam Bhat, while strongly condemning the killing of teenage student, said, “The government forces are carrying out genocide in Kashmir.”

Paying rich tributes to slain student, the ML spokesman Sajad Ayobi, in a statement today, said, “Killing of a student by forces is the worst example of atrocities. The government forces have been tasked to kill the people living in the Kashmir Valley.” 

He also condemned the firing and teargas shelling on the protesters at Turkiwangam.

Tehreek-e-Muzahamat (TeM), while condemning the killing, in a statement today, said, “Indian forces on behest of political masters in New Delhi are working on a well thought out plan to eliminate youth in Kashmir.”

“By using brutal policies New Delhi will never succeed in crushing the will of freedom loving people. In no way they could be compelled to surrender before India’s might,” the TeM spokesman said.

Expressing profound grief over the killing of teenage student, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) leaders Barrister Tramboo and Wajahat Qureshi, in a joint statement today, accused the administration of letting loose a reign of terror against unarmed civilians.

The leaders appealed to the world community to take cognizance of continuous bloodshed in state.

Praying for slain youth, the leaders extended their condolences and sympathy with the bereaved family. They also prayed for speedy recovery of those injured in forces firing in Pinjora.
