Separatists condemn Soibugh man’s killing

Condemnations from separatist leaders and organizations against the killing of a 55-year old man Syed Habibullah by the forces in Soibugh Budgam continued to pour in on the second day today.

Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, while condemning the killing termed it a “cold-blooded murder”.

Geelani, in a statement today, stressed for stringent action against the accused and demanded probe into the killing by “impartial agencies.”

“Forces, laced with unbridled powers and impunity under the cover of black laws, are trigger-happy and kill Kashmiris whenever and wherever they wish to, as has been witnessed in the last seven decades,” Geelani said.

Extending heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family, Geelani said, “we stand with them and pray for eternal peace to departed soul.”

Rejecting the police version about the killing, Geelani said, “these statements are issued to befool people. Instead of taking any action against killers, confusing statements are issued to save these murderers.”

He said, “since there is no accountability, thousands of Kashmiris have been killed in cold-blood and merciless manner and not even a single soldier or policeman involved has ever been brought to book or tried by law.”

Condemning the killing, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) spokesman, in a statement today, said, “heavy militarization has made Kashmir a place where living has become very difficult.”

A delegation of DFP leaders and activists today visited the residence of slain civilian at Soibugh in Budgam, praying for the deceased and expressing solidarity with the bereaved family.

Tehreek-e-Muzahamat (TeM) chairman Bilal Sidiqui also termed it a “cold blooded murder”.

“A delegation of TeM led by its chairman Bilal Ahmed Sidiqui today visited Astaanpora, Soibugh, Budgam to offer condolences to the bereaved family of Syed Habibullah,” a spokesman of the TeM, in a statement today, said.
