SHOCKING: Stray dogs maul 75-year old woman to death in Tangdhar

In a heart wrenching incident, a 75-year-old woman was mauled to death by stray dogs at Tanghar area on Saturday.

As per locals, a pack of stray dogs attacked Reshma Begum wife of Muhammad Yaqoob of Nowpora Tangdhar in Karnah when she came out of her home.

   

“Dogs pounced upon the elderly woman and brutally injured her. She died on the spot.

“The same pack of stray dogs attacked another woman identified as Shahnaza Begum wife of Naseer Ahmad of the same village. Shanaza was carrying cow-dung to her fields when the dogs attacked her. The lady was injured.

“The woman started screaming which attracted the attention of a passer-by, who tried to free her from the clutched of the canines. Dogs also injured the man who was identified as Muhammad Syed son of Abdul Qayoom of Dhani (Hajitara).

“Both the injured were hospitalized at sub district hospital Tangdhar,” locals said.

When the body of elderly woman reached her home, there were frenzied scenes with people sobbing and weeping.

The neighbours and relatives said as if the snow avalanches and cross-border shelling were not enough, “that the dogs are now killing us.”

Locals alleged that dogs are on the prowl in the entire Tangdhar town creating havoc in the area.

“Population of stray dogs has increased manifold at Tangdhar which has threatened the safety of the locals.

“This is not the first incident here. Such incidents often occur here,” residents said.

“Despite the alarming rise in cases of dog bites, the government is yet to devise any policy to address the menace. We appeal administration to control the dogs so that lives of the people are saved,” the residents said.
