Shopian firing: Two more youth killed, civilian toll mounts to five

Civilian death toll in clashes following a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday mounted to five with the killing of two more civilians.

The slain were identified as Zubair Ahmad Negroo of Ayangund Rajpora and Yasir of Shopian.

   

Earlier, Adil Ahmad, a resident of Ashmuji in Kulgam district, was killed after army men opened fire in Behibagh village of Kulgam. Four others were injured in the firing.

Another civilian, identified as Sajad Ahmad of Verinag Dooru, was killed after forces fired at protesters in Chitragam village of Shopian who were demonstrating against the death of five militants in a gunfight.
