Shopian gunfight over; three militants killed, army soldier injured

Three militants were killed and an army soldier injured in a gunfight between militants and the security forces at a village in south Kashmir’s poll bound Shopian district on Friday.

A police official said the militants opened fire on theforces from a residential house during a cordon and search operation inAadkhara village of Imam Sahab area of the district.

   

He said that the anti-militancy operation is over with thekilling of three militants.

“Identification of all the three militants is beingascertained,” the official said.

A youth, identified as Mudasir Ahmad, a resident of Wuyanvillage of Imam Sahab, was also injured following the violent clashes near thesite of a gunfight.

Mudasir has suffered a bullet injury in his leg followingwhich he was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

The mobile Internet service also remains snapped in entiresouth Kashmir.

The Shopian district is going to polls on May 6 for AnantnagLok Sabha seat.
