Shortage of doctors at Mothers and Child Hospital Sopore has put the people to acute difficulties in this North Kashmir town.
"Almost 200 patients are waiting for their turn since 10 a.m. as there is only one doctor available in the hospital for these 200 maternity patients. Patients as well as their attendants are suffering in this bone chilling winter," said Firdous Ahmad Mir, an attendant who has come from Rafiabad along with his wife.
The hospital caters to three districts of north Kashmir.
People appealed BMO Sopore and CMO Baramulla to look into the matter.
When this reporter contacted BMO Sopore Dr. Samiullah, he said that two gynaecologists are NHM appointees and they are on strike due to which only one gynaecologist is available in the hospital.
