Shutdown affects normal life in Kashmir

Normal life was affected on Sunday due to a strike call given by separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani against the killing of a three-year-old boy in Sopore area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.

Normal life was affected on Sunday due to a strike call given by separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani against the killing of a three-year-old boy in Sopore area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.

Burhan Bashir died of injuries he sustained during an attack on his father Bashir Ahmad Bhat by motorcycle-borne gunmen on Friday evening.

All the shops and business establishments are closed while public transport is off the roads.

However, private transport was plying normally in Srinagar.

Reports of shutdown have also been received from other district headquarters.
