Shutdown in Baramulla areas after police van crushes elderly man to death

A complete shutdown is being observed in Baramula areas after an elderly man was crushed to death by a police van in Delina area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district last evening.

Abdul Aziz Ahangar, 65, died after he was hit by a police vehicle on Wednesday evening. The family has alleged that police tried to arrest their son Tawseef Ahmad Ahangar on the same evening and while trying to foil police attempt, father of the youth, Aziz, was hit by the police vehicle resulting in his death. 

   

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Delina Baramulla against the incident. All the shops are closed and huge deployment of police and paramilitary forces have been put in place to avoid protests in the area.

Meanwhile, amid pro-freedom slogans, Aziz was laid to rest at Delina Baramulla this morning.

Meanwhile authorities suspended Internet and rail services in Baramulla as a “precautionary measure.”
