Snow leaves scores of villages near LoC cut off

Scores of villages near Line of Control in Uri sector and Boniyar tehsil of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are facing severe hardships as the roads connecting their villages have not been restored following the recent snowfall.

The villages include Gagerhil, Jabdi, Somali, Chotali, Dargojen, Dudran, Chrunda, Batgran, Hathlanga, Mothal, Soura and Barnate.

The locals said they are cut off from the district headquarter for some weeks and are facing immense hardships.

“Ours is a hilly area. The area recently received heavy snowfall. The authorities have so far failed to restore the road connectivity,” said Arif Hussain Khatana of Barnate Boniyar.

Meanwhile, the people appealed to the authorities to clear the roads from the snow so that the connectivity with the district headquarters is restored.
