An Army soldier died and nine others were injured in a road accident at Awantipora area of Pulwama district on Monday, police said.
Six army soldiers, a private truck driver and his conductor were also injured. The slain soldier was identified as Kuldeep. Police has lodged an FIR and started investigation.
The accident took place when a private truck veered off the road and collided with an Army vehicle coming from opposite direction, an official said. Injured have been shifted to 92 base Army hospital Srinagar for treatment.
According to an eyewitness, the local people immediately reached the spot and retrieved all the persons, including two civillians, from the damaged vehicles.
The locals took care of the injured soldiers and helped them with water and first-aid, he said.
