An Army man was injured on Saturday as Indian and Pakistani troops resorted to firing along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, an official said.

While the Indian authorities accused the Pakistani army of "unprovoked" firing, reports on the other side of the border suggested otherwise.

"Pakistani troops violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district around 0745 hours," a Defence spokesman told PTI news agency.

They targeted forward posts along the LoC in Hamirpur sector in Poonch district from 2150 hours to 2215 hours last night, he said.

In the firing, an army man was injured, he said, adding that the Indian troops retaliated effectively.
