Soz remembers Maulana Masoodi on his anniversary

Former union minister Prof Saifuddin Soz today paid glowing tributes to the memory of late Maulana Muhammad Sayeed Masoodi on his death anniversary, describing him as a towering politician and religious scholar.

Former union minister Prof Saifuddin Soz today  paid glowing tributes to the memory of late Maulana Muhammad Sayeed Masoodi on his death anniversary, describing him as a towering politician and religious scholar.  

"Maulana, one of our towering politicians and a scholar of Islam, was killed at his Ganderbal residence on December 13, 1990. He was 87 and was suffering from cancer," Soz said in a statement. "The Maulana was spearheading the Quit Kashmir movement at that time alongside late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah. The Maulana happened to be General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference,"  Soz, in a statement today, said 

He said, "Today, I have a feeling that it is possible to have differences with politicians and others, yet it is possible to respect their memories and remember them for various qualities and services in public life."
