Sparsh Leprosy campaign held

A daylong awareness programme was organized by the Department of Health under Sparsh Leprosy awareness campaign, here today.

The Deputy Commissioner Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed on the Health Department to create awareness for the eradication of the disease from the district. She said that Leprosy disease is totally curable at all stages and is not a communicable disease and signs and symptoms help to detect the cases, an official handout said.

She said that the disease is as curable as others. Refuting the myths and social stigma associated with the disease, she said there is no need to feel panic about it.
