SPO quits after string of abductions in Awantipora in south Kashmir

Following a string of abductions of family members of policemen, a special police officer (SPO) has left his job and returned home in Midoora Village of Awantipora township in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

As per a local source, SPO Bilal Ahmad Kumar s/o Abdul Ahad Kumar has announced his resignation at a local mosque. 

   

On Friday, the head cleric of Jamia Masjid Midoora had received a letter from the SPO stating he had quit his job. 

While reading the letter, the cleric said: “The SPO has announced voluntary retirement from his services and is seeking public apology.”

As many as 11 relatives of policemen have been abducted by suspected militants during past two days.
