SSA teachers demand extension in date for submission of B.Ed fee

The teachers recruited under erstwhile Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme (SSA) in the school education department have demanded extension in date for submission of fee for B.Ed courses.

These in-service teachers are enrolled with Indira Gandhi national Open University (IGNOU) to pursue their two year B.Ed course, which has been made mandatory by the ministry of Human resource development (MHRD).

However, the last date for submission of their fee has been fixed as today by IGNOU authorities.

“We have completed one year in B.Ed and the last date for submission of fee for second year is today which should be extended,” a group of SSA teachers said.

The demand for extension of the date comes in wake of the denial of their salaries for past four months. The examination fee for the second year is RS 12500. “We can’t afford this amount at this juncture,” the teachers said.

Their salary is yet to be released from the month of October last year. “But we have been conveyed that our salary for month of October will be credited in our accounts after two to three days. So date for submission of fee should be also extended for three days,” the teachers demanded.

State project director Samagra, Arun Kumar Manhas said they are examining the issue. “We will try to get the date extended by few days,” he said.
