Stop making hate speeches: Yasin Malik to religious preachers

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Friday expressed dismay over the growing intolerance and hate speeches by some religious preachers especially on social media. He appealed ulema and religious scholars of all schools of thought to stop fringe elements among their ranks from spreading hate among Muslims through their speeches and sermons.

“These people through their hate speeches are widening the gap between various sects of Muslims and are hence tarnishing the unity among our ranks and files,” Malik said while addressing a Friday prayer meeting here.

“Ulema and religious scholars are most valued in our society but this reverence brings more responsibilities on their shoulders. They should stop fringe elements among their ranks from spreading hate among Muslims through their speeches and sermons because this growing menace is responsible for widening the gap between various sects of Muslims and in no way is in the interest of our Ummah,” he said.

Meanwhile, JKLF today organized funeral prayers in absentia for its activist Naeem Butt, who was recently killed in the firing by police in Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK).

“JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik along with hundreds of people participated in funeral prayers,” a Front spokesman said in a statement.

On March 16, 2018, JKLF had called for a peaceful march during which Naeem Butt along with many others received the bullets from PaK police and finally Naeem succumbed to his wounds on March 22, and attained martyrdom,” the spokesman said.

Speaking on the occasion, Yasin Malik said, “Kashmiris are being slaughtered at ceasefire line (LoC) but international community seems to maintain slumber. Kashmiri inmates are being subjected to worst kind of state oppression in jails and police stations.”

Welcoming the decision of Prime Minister Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) ordering a judicial probe into Naeem’s killing, JKLF chairman hoped that this probe will conclude in time and the culprits who killed Naeem will be given stern punishment.  GKNN
