Expressing displeasure over the incident involving a police officer "humiliating" the incumbent Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, CPI (M) leader Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami Monday said that "the behavior of police officer is unfortunate." "It is purely a publicity stunt by police officer. He was more interested in uploading video than executing the law. He has failed to adhere to the protocol and pay due respect to the vice chancellor," he said.

"Police is the biggest and reputed institution but few officers are hell-bent to malign the very credibility of this institution. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti must intervene and take note of the incident that has offended the sentiments of students community and teaching faculty," he said. "Let us hope the matter will be probed and action will be initiated against the erring police officer," he added.
