Thousands of people on Monday took part in the funeral of slain Jaish militant Fardeen Ahmad Khandey in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Khandey was killed along with an associate Manzoor Ahmad Baba after they mounted an attack on CRPF training centre in Lethpora area of Awantipora.
Men and women lined the streets as the body of 16-year-old Khandey was being marched towards a local ground in Nazneenpora village. They were raising pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans.
At least four rounds of funeral prayers were held to accommodate the huge rush of people.
Pertinently, army and the CRPF have placed a cordon to prevent militants from reaching the funeral and offer gun- salutes.
Despite that, however, few militants appeared in the funeral and offered a gun-salute to their slain associate.
