Soldier injured in Bandipora encounter: police

Srinagar July 24: An army soldier was injured in the gunfight with militants in Shokbaba forest area of Sumlar-Aragam in north Kashmir’s Bandipora on Saturday, police said.

The soldier from 14 RR received gunshot injuries in the initial exchange of fire between the security forces and militants, a police handout said.

   

He was immediately evacuated to hospital for treatment of his injuries, police said.

In the encounter, which broke out this morning, three unidentified militants have been killed as per police.

Police said the operation in the area is still going on and further details shall be communicated as and when the operation will conclude.
