Three women among 5 dead, 9 injured after minibus hit by landslide in Doda

Five passengers, including three women, died and nine others were injured after a mini bus came under the debris of a landslide on Wednesday afternoon in Piyakul village of Doda district, police said.

SDPO Gandoh Bhallesa Nawaz Khanday said that five persons are reported to be dead while nine others were injured after the landslide hit a mini bus at Piyakul on Thathri-Kilhotraan road.

   

“Locals and police immediately reached the spot to start therescue operation. Passengers were rescued and shifted to PHC Kahara, where fromsix injured have been were shifted to Trauma Hospital Thathri,” SDM ThathriMohd Anwar Banday said.

The deceased were identified as Shakeela Bagum wife of GhulamNabi Bhat of Kanoo Teh Khara Bhalesa, Mansoor Ahmad son of Saif din Bhat of KanooTeh Khara, Gulshan Bagum wife of Mansoor Ahmed of Kanoo Teh Khara, MudaserHusain of Joura Teh Khara, Kamlesha Devi of Shechal Teh Khara Bhalesa.

The injured were identified as Shafqat Hussain son of Din Mohd of Batoli, Rashida Begum wife of Jalil Ahmed of Budi Jura, Shakuntla Devi wife of Mulak Raj of Ranjana, Jalil Ahmed son of Roshan Din of Budi Jura, Nawshad Ahmed son of Nazir Ahmed Qazi of Tanta and Mohd Aslam son of Altaf Din of Indlu.
