SRINAGAR: Three militants, including a top commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba, were killed in an overnight gunfight with the police and security forces in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said today.
The gunfight broke out last last night after police, army and the CRPF launched an operation in Gund Brath area.
“Top LeT #terrorist Mudasir Pandit who was involved in #killing of 03 policemen, 02 councillors & 02 civilians recently and other several #terror crimes got killed in Sopore #encounter,” said IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Twitter.
He said a foreign militant active since 2018 was also killed in the gunfight. He identified him as Asrar alias Abdullah a resident of Pakistan.
The IGP termed the killing of Mudasir as a “big relief for local population”.
The identity of the third slain militant was not immediately known.
