Traffic police issue advisory for stranded passengers

The traffic police Thursday evening issued an advisory asking stranded passengers along the Srinagar-Jammu highway not to travel between Ramban and Qazigund until the road is re-opened.

The highway, the advisory read, has witnessed fresh one to two feet of snow in the Banhial-Qazigund stretch due to which the road has been blocked.

“Further the rainfall in the Banihal-Ramban stretch has also led to landslides/shooting stones at many places like Anokhi fall, Kela Mode and Panthal. The stranded vehicles would be allowed to proceed towards their destinations once the road is cleared,” the advisory read, adding: “People are further advised to start their journey on the highway only after confirming status of the road on telephone numbers: Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732); Ramban (9419993745); Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091).”
