Tral shuts on 4th death anniversary of Hizb commander Abid Khan

A complete shutdown is being observed on Sunday in Tral township of police district Awantipora to mark the fourth death anniversary of Hizb ul Mujahideen commander Abid Khan.

All shops and other business establishments remained closed in the town while public transport was off the roads.

   

Abid Khan alias Hamza of Handoora hamlet of Tral was killed along with his associate Sheeraz Ahmed Dar at Aourigund village in a gunfight with the forces on January 27, 2015.

The Hizb commander gained popularity after killing the commanding officer of Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Col Munindra Nath Rai, and head constable Sanjeev Singh of SOG during the gunfight.
