A complete shutdown was observed for the third consecutive on Wednesday in Tral township of Pulwama district against the killing of three militants during an attack on a CRPF camp.
All shops, business establishments, government and private offices remained closed in these areas while public transport was off the roads.
Three militants and five CRPF soldiers were killed in the 36-hour-long gun battle between militants and government forces after the former attacked CRPF training centre in Lethpora area of Awantipora on Monday.
The deceased militants were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Baba of Drubgam Pulwama, Fardeen Ahmad Khandey of Nazneenpora Tral while the third one remained unidentified.
A witness said that scores of people including some pro-freedom leaders from different areas visited the slain militant Fardeen Ahmed Khanday’s home at Nazneenpora village of Tral to offer prayers.
