People on Monday remembered 22 victims of Wular tragedy on their 10th death anniversary by holding special prayers here in North Kashmir's Handwara town.

Twenty children along with a teacher and another employee of Burn Candle Public School, Handwara, drowned in Wular lake on May 30, 2006, when an Indian Naval boat carrying them capsized in the middle of the lake.

Residents of Handwara including parents and relatives of victims held special prayers for the victims at Jannat ul Firdous Martyrs Graveyard in Handwara. Relatives and parents of deceased children demanded justice to victims and stringent punishment to navy officials for their alleged negligence and held them responsible for the tragedy.
