Two army men wounded in ongoing Kupwara gunfight

Two army men were wounded in an ongoing gunfight with the militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.

Official sources told GNS that army’s 6 RR intercepted a group of militants near Kacchal Post in Keran, adjacent to Chowkibal forests.

   

After being challenged, the militants, believed to 3 to 5 in number, opened indiscriminate fire upon the army’s ambush party, triggering off a gunfight, they said.

A senior army officer based in Kupwara confirmed the gunfight and said that two soldiers suffered injuries in the incident.

He said that both the injured have been evacuated to military hospital Drugmulla for treatment.
