Two drug peddlers arrested with 20 kg poppy straw in Handwara: Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers along with 20 kilograms of contraband substance in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A police official said that two drug peddlars were nabbed today during naka checking near Badrah crossing police station Kralgund of Handwara police district.

   

Those arrested were identified as Adil Ahmad Sheikh and Tariq Ahmad Rather, both residents of Dangerpora Sopore along with 20 kgs of contraband poppy straw.

“Both drug peddlers were arrested and their vehicle (JK05A-1554) was seized on spot,” the police official said.

He added that an FIR No 72 /2018 u/S 8/15 NDPS has been registered and further investigation was taken up.
