Srinagar June 8: Wildlife officials on Monday evening captured two leopard cubs in Poonch-Gund village of Beerwah in central Kashmir's Budgam district.

Officials warned that the mother leopard might not be far away and warned to remain vigilant and careful.

"Two Leopard cubs were captured at Poonch-Gund, Beerwah this evening and shifted to safe location by wildlife deptt. personnel.

The (mother) leopardess may be around. General public be careful, " Tehsildar Beerwah tweeted last evening.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza also retweeted the post and asked people to be "vigilant and careful".

The DC'd concern comes in view of the killing of a minor girl from Housing Colony Ompora who was mauled to death by a leopard on Friday.

Following the tragic incident, Wildlife officials have scaled up their efforts to capture and kill the "man-eater" leopard in the area.
