UJC supports JRL shutdown call on Feb 9, 11

United Jihad Council (UJC) has extended support to protest and strike call given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on 9 and 11 February to commemorate the death anniversaries of Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Bhat respectively.

In an e-mailed statement to local news agency KNS, UJC spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain quoted its chief Syed Salah-ud-din saying, “Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat are two shining starts of Kashmir’s freedom struggle.”

He said the two leaders sacrificed their lives instead of bowing down. “The two leaders by sacrificing their lives explained that a day of freedom is much better than a lifetime of a slave,” he said.

“The Indian authorities have failed to bury their message by hanging them in Tihar Jail,” he said. (KNS)
