Union Ministry delegation reviews progress under BBBP initiative
A delegation of union ministry led by assistant secretary Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, Amit Pal Singh today visited here to review the functioning and implementation of BetiBachaoBetiPadhao (BBBP) programme in Pulwama district, an official spokesman said.
He said the BBBP initiative was launched throughout the country in 2015 to address the trend of declining child sex ratio (CSR).
During the visit, assistant secretary expressed his satisfaction over the efforts taken in the district to improve the sex ratio. He praised the efforts of the ICDS and converging departments who adopted local practices and novel methodologies to check the skewing child sex ratio in the district, the spokesman said, adding that resource personnel from the ICDS department Pulwama demonstrated their action plan to the visiting team.
