Uri: Police seek help from navy to fish out body from Jhelum

Jammu Police issues statement to dispel 'misinformation' regarding death of person in custody

Police have sought help from authorities of the navy unit at Manasbal locate the body of the 12-year-old boy who drowned in river Jhelum in this border town of northern Kashmir.

“We have written to the authorities of the naval unit in Mansabal requesting them to provide us commandos and to fish out the body. Hopefully, we will get the help on Saturday,” said Junaid Wali, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Uri.

   

He said the operation to locate the body was “tough one” for them. “We lack equipment,” Wali said.

The boy, Shahid Ahmad, son of late Noor Muhammad Kanyal, of Nowshera Uri drowned in the river on Wednesday while taking the bath.
