Van driver suffers injuries after army open fire on him

A van driver suffered injuries after army men allegedly fired upon him in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district late Friday night.

A police official said that Mohammad Shafi Ganie son ofGhulam Nabi, a resident of Wahibugh village was flagged down by the army men ata check post near Chewa Khurd village at around 11:45 pm.

   

“The driver, however, did not stop and drovepast,” the official said.

He said the army men immediately opened fire on him, causinginjuries in his hand.

He was later rushed to Bone and Joint Hospital, Srinagar forthe treatment.

Local residents said that Ganie was returning from theGulzarpora village when the incident occurred.
