Various leaders express anguish over Noorbagh fire incident

Srinagar, June 11: Various political parties today expressed anguish over a massive fire incident in the Noorbagh area of Baramulla district.

Expressing distress over the unfortunate incident, Jammu Kashmir National Conference Party’s North Zone President and MP Baramulla Muhammad Akbar Lone said, “I express my heartfelt sympathies with them and impress upon the incumbent divisional and district administration to immediately recompense those affected by the fire incident. The administration must swing its men and machinery to work out the magnitude of losses incurred by the affected families and should immediately rush revenue teams to access the losses incurred by the affected so that the quantum of the compensation is decided at an earliest and also reimbursed promptly.”

“The affected families are mostly underprivileged and live by hand to mouth, therefore making it more imperative on the incumbent divisional and district administration to move an extra mile to help the affected families get on their feet again,” he added.

Apni Party District President Baramulla Shoaib Lone in a statement issued here, demanded that the administration must promptly dispatch teams on ground zero to assess the losses incurred by the fire victims.

“The Government must help these poor and deserving people through this calamitous situation that has utterly devastated their lives. They should be granted apposite ex-gratia at an earliest so that they can reconstruct their houses once again,” Lone said adding that the fire victims must be provided with a temporary shelter in any nearby government accommodation.

Congress leader Sheikh Aamir Friday visited Noorbagh area and distributed relief items and eatables like clothes, blankets, biscuits, juice and water bottles among the fire victims.

Aamir requested the district administration to take immediate steps for the rehabilitation of fire victims and also appealed the people of town to come forward in helping this poor community of Baramulla.

He however extended his gratitude to the youth of Baramulla who without caring about their lives were instrumental in controlling the massive fire that engulfed the Sheikh Mohalla of Noorbagh Baramulla the previous night.
