VC congratulates IUST faculty for bagging project grants

Awantipora, Dec 9: The Department of Science and Technology, Government of Jammu and Kashmir has approved 29 project proposals submitted by faculty and researchers from different departments of the Islamic University of Science and Technology.

The proposals worth about Rs two crores focus on contemporary issues across different domains of Science and Technology.

   

Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor IUST while congratulating the investigators said that research in areas with societal relevance and bearing have to be prioritized. He said that extramurally funded projects have witnessed a quantum jump over the last few years and the outcomes are evident in terms of patents published and granted. He said IUST is actively exploring collaborations with different local, national and global bodies for research and in this regard a number of MoUs have been signed. He thanked the Government for their support in the efforts undertaken by the University to nurture the innovation and research ecosystem. He said that the indices of Innovation and research have markedly improved and youth are showing inclination towards entrepreneurship, which is a positive sign for a progressive and prosperous future. Prof Romshoo also said that NEP 2020 outlines the strategy for enabling the youth through skilling and empowering them to steer their learning Journeys. And to this end IUST has introduced BS Four Year Under Graduate Programme under Design Your Degree Mode for which the admission is open. Talking about the Programme, he said that students from any background can pursue their interest areas and earn a major degree in Artificial Intelligence, Economics, Mathematical Sciences, Islamic Studies, English etc.
