At least 12 persons, including a village head and two employees, were detained during a nocturnal raid by the government forces in Sozeith area of Narbal in central Kashmir's Budgam district, locals said.
Residents alleged that forces resorted to massive teargas shelling before barging into residential houses in Mukhdam and Gori mohallas of the village shortly after midnight.
"They (forces) smashed windowpanes, LCD TVs, refrigerators, cars and other accessories," alleged a resident who didn't want to be named for fear of reprisal.
He alleged that several women were also beaten up by the forces.
"At least 12 persons were picked up from the village during the raid," added the residents.
