vows to resist ‘any tinkering’ with Article 35A

The Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani,Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik Tuesday reiterated that anytinkering with the state subject law will be resisted tooth and nail by thepeople across Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, the JRL said the case regarding Article 35-Ais again coming up for hearing in the Supreme Court on March 6 and 7.

   

“A high-level delegation of the (Kashmir) Bar associationhas already reached New Delhi to monitor and defend it .The team will keep theJRL intimated and the people will be likewise informed,” the statement read,adding: “In the past also, many efforts were made and many ploys employed todamage the disputed status of Kashmir, but the people, through their stiffresistance, always foiled such designs and this time also, if any adverse moveis made in this regard, people and leaders are fully ready to resist it.”

Meanwhile, the JRL paid tributes to two militants AdfarFayaz Parray and Irfan Ahmed Rather, who were killed in an encounter withgovernment forces in Tral.

“It is very painful that youth pushed to the wall are takingto arms and losing life,” the JRL said, adding “we strongly condemn forces’action in Tral where live ammunition was used against the people, resulting inthe grave injuries to 25-year-old youth Farooq Ahmed. We pray for his speedyrecovery”.
