President of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Abdul Qayoom Wani has expressed shock and sorrow over the sad demise of veteran trade union leader and EJAC vice president and president Electric Employees Union Abdul Salaam Rajpori.
Rajpori died on Monday after suffering a major cardiac attack while chairing a meeting of electric employees here.
In a statement here an EJAC spokesman said that Wani, who was outside Kashmir, rushed back to the Valley to remain with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.
The spokesman said that an emergency meeting of EJAC and all the affiliated unions was held here this afternoon to condole the demise. Special prayers were offered to the departed soul. After the condolence meeting a delegation led by EJAC president Abdul Qayoom rushed to Rajpura Pulwama to offer heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, he added.
While paying tributes to Rajpori, Wani said that he was always inspired by the deceased as a trade union leader. "Rajpori was a real son of the soil with sense of belonging. His demise is a personal loss to me," Wani added.
Wani assured the kith and kin of the deceased that whole employee fraternity in general and EJAC family in particular stands with them at this crucial juncture. He prayed for peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family.
