Watch: Jamia Millia Islamia students use sand art to create haunting video about Kashmir

Choosing art to send their message about Kashmir across, a group of students from Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University’s AJK Mass Communication Research Centre has made a poignant video to depict of plight of people living in the region.

A group of 23 students of (2017-19) batch have created a sand animation video titled ‘Zaroorat Nahi’ that describes lives of Kashmiris living under constant fear and repression.

   

“The students painstakingly created the video using sand as their medium,” NEWS18 quoted Dr Atul Sinha from the university’s AJK department.

The video plays in the backdrop of a song, penned down by Zareef Ahmad Zareef who wrote the Kashmiri lyrics. Manan Khan wrote the Hindi lyrics of the song while music was co-composed by Hujjat Khumani and Manan Khan, said the report.

The stirring video has been nominated for the prestigious FICCI Best Animated Frames (BAF) Awards under the ‘Best Student Animated Short Film’ category, the report mentioned.
