Two men on Tuesday attempted to snatch the rifle of a Jammu and Kashmir bank guard in Tral township of south Kashmir’s Awantipora police district.
An eye witness said two men attacked a bank security guardof Jammu & Kashmir Bank branch Bus Stand Tral in order to snatch his12-bore service rifle. “The alert guard resisted and managed to trap one butanother one managed to escape,” he said.
Following the incident police rushed to the spot andarrested the person. “Two miscreants made aborted attempt to snatch12-bore rifle of the private security guard. One was caught by security guardand police later took him into custody for questioning,” said a seniorpolice officer.
Meanwhile, security forces also cordoned off the area andmanhunt was launched to nab the attackers.
Forcesalso launched cordon and search operation in Rathsun village of Tral by lateafternoon.
Door to door searches were going on when this report wasbeing filed.
