Woman injured as windstorm damages houses, uproots trees in Baramulla

Windstorm coupled with rains on Saturday toppled trees and damaged houses in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, leaving a woman injured.

Reports said that a house belonging to Farooq Ahmad Hajam was damaged by gusty winds in Syed Kareem Baramulla. His wife sustained injuries and was shifted to district hospital Baramulla for treatment.

   

They said that three more houses were damaged at Syed Karim and Trikanjan Boniyar areas.

They said that trees was toppled and standing crops damaged due to winds and rains in Baramulla and Sopore towns.

A local from Soopore said that several vehicles were damaged after trees fell on them.

The windstorm also damaged rooftops of houses and electric transmission lines in the area.

Power supply in parts of Baramulla, including Sopore, was snapped due to damage to electric poles and transmission lines after the windstorm. (With inputs from Ghulam Muhammad)
