Woman injured during clashes at Tral, CASO in twin villages

A woman was hit by a teargas shell fired by government forces at protesters during clashes in Tral, Pulwama district, on Saturday.

Witnesses said some youths hurled stones at the forces’ vehicles at the Tral Bus Stand on Saturday afternoon. The forces, they said, responded by firing tear gas shells to disperse the protesters.

Dishada, 23, wife of Javed Ahmed Reshi of Tral was hit by a teargas shell during the clashes. She suffered injury in the eye and was referred to Srinagar for treatment.

The clash erupted after the government forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Gulab Bagh and Batagund villages of the area. Forces deployed in large numbers in the villages have been conducting house-to-house searches.
