Police Monday interred a woman's body from a graveyard twenty one days after her death was passed off as suicide allegedly by her in-laws in Khag area of central Kashmir's Budgam district.

An official said that a team of doctors from SKIMS Soura conducted the autopsy on the body of 35-year-old Rubeena at SDH Khansahab.

She was buried at her ancestral graveyard in Zabgul area of Beerwah.

Rubeena, according to her in-laws, had consumed some poisonous substance on September 14 at Poshkar village, following which she was rushed to Soura Medical institute where she breathed her last.

An FIR vide number 74 under Section 309 was lodged at police station.

"The parents of the deceased didn't allow us to conduct post mortem at that time," said the official.

SDPO Magam Syed Fayaz Ahmad, who heads the investigation into the incident, said they were alerted by some women who spotted marks of violence while performing the ablution of the deceased.

"Accordingly the same FIR was amended to Section 306 RPC," he said.

The deceased was married off to Zahoor Ahmad of Poshkar five years back and is survived by three children.
