Scores of women from Shahabad area of this northern Kashmir town on Monday staged a protest against the PHE department for failing to provide them regular water supply.
Reports said scores of women staged protest at Iqbal marketagainst the department. While raising slogans against the department the womenalleged the area was without water supply for the past several days.
They said amid the ongoing COVID19 pandemic the governmenton daily basis advises people to wash hands regularly. “But we don’t haveadequate water for cooking or drinking not to talk of washing hands,” saidHaseena Begum.
The protesting women said if their demands were notaddressed at earliest they would intensify the protests in the coming days.
A senior PHE official said the issue will be addressed in atime-bound manner.
