Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Thursday said that putting its incarcerated chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik in solitary confinement at Kot Balwal Jail, Jammu, could endanger his life.
“Booking YasinMalik under Public Safety Act (PSA),shifting him to Kot-Balwal Jail and putting him in solitary confinement has raised many questions about theintentions of the government,” a JKLFspokesman quoted the Front leaders as having told the UK foreign office, UNhuman rights officials at Geneva.
The leaders said, “The international community shoulddenounce and stop violence by the state against peaceful democraticactivities.”
“Earlier, JKLFdiplomatic head Professor Zaffar Khan led delegation held a meeting with UnitedKingdom Foreign office in London. Another delegation led by zonal president EU Choudhary Tanveer held a meeting with United Nations Humanrights (UNHR) officials in Geneva while as president UK zone Sabir-Gul led aprotest outside Indian high commission in London against slapping PSA on JKLFchairman and treatment being meted out to him and others in jails andinterrogation centers,” the spokesman said.
Terming the arrest of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik andthousands of other as ‘undemocratic and illegal’, JKLF leaders said, “There isneed of immediate intervention by the international community to save people ofKashmir.”
Condemning the’custodial death” of a school teacher Rizwan Asad Pandith by forces, the JKLFleaders said, “International community should wake up before it’s too late.”
“We appealed to the international community, human rightsorganizations and civil society to intervene and save the life of incarceratedJKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and thousands of others languishing in jailsand incarceration centers,” they said.
Meanwhile, the JKLFspokesman paid rich tributes to salin Molvi Jalal Ud din alias Akbar, LiyaqatAhmad Khan, Muhammad Ashraf Sofi, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, and Parvaiz Ahmad Koki ontheir anniversaries.
